Hiba Shublak, CEO and Founder of Active Learning, is the Physical Activities Specialist for Orange County, Health Care Agency. Hiba is currently finishing a Master's degree in Education with a Preliminary and Secondary Teaching Credential. She earned her Child Development and Psychotherapy degree while running aerobics and childcare programs throughout Orange County. She currently holds an early child education credential and an adult education credential. Her program, called the “Active Learning Experience”, combines physical activities and nutritional programs that are designed to promote healthy lifestyles for children and their caregivers. Through that means, she addresses both the prevention of obesity and the many issues confronting children who are obese.

One of Active Learning’s most popular programs are the Hip Hop Dance programs. Recently, Hiba won the first-ever California Assn. for Health, Physical Education, Recreation and Dance "Innovator of the Year" award for creating clean, fun hip hop programs for teens across California. Hiba travels across the state to teach Master classes at elementary, middle and high schools.

Hiba also teaches workshops and seminars nationwide independently of or as a supplement to the Active Learning Experience, to enhance the critical skills of teachers and parents in developing and maintaining good fitness and eating habits.

 

Mary Coggins, Pre School Physical Activities Instructor, has an extensive early childhood development background with years of experience as a childcare provider, preschool teacher and volunteer for Head Start Preschool Program. She was the activity program director for school aged children in the East Bay Area where she earned her bacchelor's degree in Philosophy and Mathematical Theory at St. Mary's College of California in the spring of 1998.    Mary's passion for children, education and public relations give her the unique and diverse outlook that truly defines the Active Learning Experience. 

 

Megan Thomas, Pre School -12th grade physical activity and dance instructor, provides the Active Learning program a dynamic element that is accentuated by her passion for both children and health.  Megan graduated with a Bacholer of Science degree in Kiniesiology from California State University, Fullerton and has spent 6 years as the Recreation Specialist for the city of Corona Parks and Rec.  where she acquired extensive experience working directly with children of all ages, designing and implementing physical activities dedicated to lifelong health.  In addition, she has spent 10 years volunteering in a Kindergarten classroom as a teacher’s aid. Her natural talent for engaging children in physical activities, promoting nutrition and health education for children is reflected in her commitment to the Active Learning Program.

 

jessica Jessica Lucas, Pre School - 12th grade physical activities instructor, is committed to providing an exciting, fun and educational experience for children of all ages. Currently, she attends California State University, Fullerton and is completing her Bachelor’s of Science degree in Kinesiology with a teaching credential in Physical Education. Jessica has spent five years with the City of Corona Parks and Recreation department as an Aquatics Instructor and Recreational Activities assistant. Jessica has worked directly with athletes at the Riverside SPORT Clinic that supports high schools in the Corona/Norco and Riverside School Districts. Her passion for movement began when she started dance at age five and has continued through to her adult life with her decision to devote her education to health and nutrition. The care she provides to children is prevalent in her encouragement of their ability to become and remain physically active and healthy. Jessica’s strong commitment to education is reflected in her work with and development of the Active Learning Program.

 


Rachel Anderson
, has been working with Active Learning as a Kinesiology specialist, teaching PE to children ages Pre K-6th grade. Her love of sports and children are apparent in her dedication to the program. Rachel, also coaches volleyball, basketball and teaches sports specific skills put to musical beats.

 



Janie Pham
, has been in the food business for over 20 years. Janie has a B.S. Degree in Dietetics & Food Administration and currently teaches nutrition-healthy cooking classes. She creates healthy recipes for cultures around the world and designs balanced meals for school cafeterias.
